Vice President/General Manager: Houston

Lectrus, the largest manufacturer of equipment centers and custom electrical enclosures is looking for a Vice President and General Manager for the Houston, Texas facility. The Vice President and General Manager will oversee all Operations functions in the Houston office focusing on attaining the highest quality product at the greatest efficiency, resulting in achieving the company’s financial goals. This includes the management of people, compliance to Federal & State labor laws, the oversight of the structural/electrical design, project management, manufacturing, shipping and customer service processes associated with Lectrus products. 

Primary Job Responsibilities include:

  • Establish production and financial objectives for Plant operation in concert with others to achieve Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
  • Create a positive team environment while leading a staff of managers including Engineering, Production, Quality, Purchasing and Human Resources.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on objectives and results throughout the year, making adjustments where required to meet the plan.
  • Understand and analyze monthly financial statements for achievement of goals and improvement opportunities.
  • Establish strong relationships with customers, and resolve customer inquiries and problems.
  • Evaluate performance of management and supervision, providing regular feedback and coaching on objectives, performance, and improvements needed. Recommend changes or additions in personnel as needed.
  • Champion / Sponsor the location’s Lean and continuous improvement activities, focused on growing the business, managing cost and succeeding with people.
  • Implement changes and policies as deemed necessary for the advancement of the operation or as instructed.
  • Work in concert with other manufacturing operations to standardize products and processes.
  • Work in concert with other manufacturing operations to balance plant loading and optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, as well as federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Champion the location’s quality system development to include policies, procedures and applicable metrics.
  • Be location advocate with corporate office.
  • Support overall company vision and mission at location.
  • Ensure location works toward overall company goals.
  • Champion company direction & changes at location.

Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Business or Management; Advanced Degree preferred
  • Previous management of engineered/make to order company or operational facility with highly variable work loading.
  • Minimum of five (5) years managing at the same level or higher at other companies with P&L accountability.
  • Proven background in change management and Lean manufacturing.
  • Metal fabrication or electrical equipment experience.
  • Proven background in dealing directly with customers at all levels.
  • Experience with establishing and negotiating pricing with customers.
  • Experience working with ERP Systems, preferably Epicor.
  • Ability to relate to and work at all levels when required (shop floor to senior executives).
  • Entrepreneurial, resourceful, energetic, self-starting, self-directed.
